EMERGENCY APPEAL
Rohingya Refugee Appeal: A Forgotten Crisis on the Margins
Nearly 1.2 million Rohingya refugees are enduring an increasingly desperate exile in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char, Bangladesh. More than half of those trapped in Cox's Bazar's sprawling settlements are children. Barred from formal employment and restricted within the camps, these families have no way to earn an income, leaving them entirely dependent on international aid to survive.
That critical lifeline is fast disappearing. Due to steep global funding deficits, the humanitarian response plan was barely half-funded by September 2026, forcing food support down to just $7 per person per month for most refugee households—a fraction of what is needed to prevent severe malnutrition. Compounding the misery, nearly 150,000 people who fled escalation in Myanmar between December 2024 and March 2026 still lack basic, weather-resistant shelter, leaving them deeply vulnerable to monsoon rains and landslides.
What Crisis Bridge Is Doing
In collaboration with trusted local Bangladeshi partner charities and volunteer network committees inside the Cox’s Bazar mega-camp network, Crisis Bridge teams are actively addressing critical gaps in survival aid:
- Emergency Food & Nutrition: Supplying dry-ration packs (staples like rice, lentils, fortified oil, and salt) and high-energy peanut paste to combat child malnutrition where food aid has been cut.
- Shelter Reinforcement: Distributing heavy-duty waterproof tarpaulins, bamboo poles, and rope to secure fragile shelters and elevate families above water and mud.
- Frontline Medical Assistance: Running mobile camps with volunteer doctors to treat waterborne diseases, skin conditions, and chronic infections, alongside prenatal support for expectant mothers.
- Water & Sanitation: Treating and trucking potable water, distributing purification tablets, and installing community tube wells and sanitation facilities.

Displaced into Cox’s Bazar with her three children, Fatima has spent years in a fragile bamboo-and-tarp shelter. As food assistance plummeted, providing even one meal a day became a desperate struggle. Soon, her four-year-old son, Bilal, became dangerously weak, with no healthcare within reach.
A Crisis Bridge medical and aid team met Fatima during a camp Outreach, immediately enrolling Bilal in a therapeutic feeding program and providing the family with high-nutrient dry rations, clean water containers, and shelter repairs. “You brought us help when we felt completely unseen by the world,” Fatima shared.
